Finnair

CHECKED BAGGAGE
?·
Checked baggage is left at the check-in
desk to be carried by the airline.
?·
The passenger's identity is checked at the check-in
desk and at the gate - both when flying on international and on domestic
flights.
?·
The maximum weight of a single bag on a Finnair
flight may not exceed 32 kg or 70 lb. (for example a suitcase shareed by two
passengers travelling together). Exceptions are only made for special baggage
such as sporting equipment, musical instuments, pets and wheelchairs, which
have been notified at the time of reservation. See further information about
the maximum weight of checked baggage on different routes here below. On
flights operated by other airlines, the bagage limitations way vary.
?·
The baggage travels on the same flight as the
passenger.
?·
Due to the liability questions, baggage is not
automatically transferred to the connecting flight, unless it has been agreed
upon between the airlines. Baggage from Finnair flights is automatically
transferred to flights operated by other oneworld
airlines and other code-share partners. Baggage is also transferred to
other airlines??™ flights, if the routing is issued on the same ticket, provided
that customs or other regulations do not prevent it.
?·
Officials might need to open your checked baggage
after security screening, if they suspect it contains any dangerous materials
or articles. A baggage strap around the suitcase prevents it from opening. An
insurance is also always recommended to cover any possible damage caused to the
baggage during handling.
?·
A Priority tag is attached to the baggage of
Business Class passengers and Finnair Plus Platinum, Gold and Silver members to
assure swift delivery at arrival.

CARRY-ON
BAGGAGE
Storage space is limited in the cabin of the
aircraft and the amount of carry-on baggage must be restricted in order to
ensure safety and passenger comfort. It must be possible to stow all carry-on
baggage in the overhead lockers, clothing closets or under the seat in front of
you. Carry-on baggage may be stowed only in the overhead lockers at emergency
exits, and in Business Class on intercontinental flights due to the lie-flat
seats.
Due to lack of space, we may have to restrict the carry-on baggage allowances
mentioned below. It would be nice, if you would place big and heavy bags under
the seat in front of you, and not in the overhead lockers, where they take up
space from overcoats and might even dirty them.
In addition to the below allowances, passengers may in all classes carry
onboard a small handbag, a small camera or binoculars, baby food, a reasonable
amount of reading material, an overcoat and, if required, a walking stick or a
mobility aid such as a pair of crutches or leg braces.
For security reasons no sharp objects such as knives, scissors, corkscrews,
knitting needles, golf clubs or skates may be packed in carry-on baggage.
When departing from an EU country, each passenger may carry liquids as carry-on
baggage, provided that the liquids are packed in containers of not more than
100 ml and all containers fit into one plastic bag of a maximum size of 1
litre. The bag must be transparent and re-sealable. Each passenger may have
only one plastic bag with liquids and the bag must be presented separately at
the security control.
Security
control
You pass into the departure gate area via a
security control. Before the security control, passengers must present proof of
their intention to travel, for example a flight ticket, boarding pass or
e-ticket identification. The security screening of passengers in
responsibility of the Finavia and the airports. Coats, jackets and blazers are
screened separately at the security control on all airports in
laptops shall be taken out of their bag and placed on the screening belt
separately from other carry-on baggage. Mobile phones may be in a coat pocket
or a carry-on bag.
